The Power Of Colour

The Power Of Colour

In a world brimming with colours, each hue carries its own unique energy, capable of evoking emotions, memories, and sentiments. The influence of colour on human behaviour and emotions has long been studied by psychologists and artists alike. From the soothing blues of tranquil oceans to the sunny yellows that inspire positivity, colours have a profound impact on our well-being and state of mind. Understanding the psychology of colour allows us to harness its power and incorporate it into our designs, and in turn, everyday lives.

At Minka Jewels we’re proud to be synonymous with colourful jewels, offering modern twists on easy-to-wear pieces, using gemstones of exceptional colour and impeccable clarity. Not only do our signature jewels elevate any look, they also aim to lift your mood - here’s how…

Blues

Often described as the colour of peace and tranquillity, blue has been shown to have a calming effect on the mind, largely owing to its associations with the ocean. Studies have found that exposure to the colour blue can lower blood pressure, slow down heart rate, and induce feelings of serenity. In an increasingly chaotic and fast-paced world, the soothing embrace of blue serves as a refuge, offering solace from the pressures of everyday life.

Always looking to nature for inspiration in our designs, we are so lucky to have sourced some of the most mesmerising blue gemstones. From Santa Marina colour grade Aquamarine sourced from Mozambique and intense 'no heat' Sapphires sourced from Sri Lanka, to lagoon blue tourmalines reminiscent of the Caribbean Sea and sky blue topaz, each one-of-a-kind stone has been chosen by Lucy for its rarity and outstanding beauty.

Green

We love the colour green for its associations with growth and renewal. As the colour most synonymous with nature, green has a rejuvenating effect on the mind, with studies showing that it can improve concentration, enhance creativity, and promote a sense of harmony. As well as its sacred symbolism and profound psychological effects, green reminds us of the inherent beauty and vitality of the natural world.

Arguably one of our favourite colours to source one-of-a-kind gemstones in, our jewellery collection spans vibrant green emeralds, watery-green amethysts, tourmalines in oceanic-tones, as well as minty teals.

Pink

Throughout history, pink has been revered as a symbol of love and femininity across cultures and civilisations. Beyond its ethereal beauty, pink has a calming effect on the mind, soothing anxiety and promoting feelings of compassion and understanding. Used across our necklace, earring and ring designs, we feature both sapphires and tourmaline in shades of lustrous pinks, combined with 18k yellow gold for a fun and luxurious addition to any ensemble.
