There are some trips that are about work, and others that leave you feeling inspired long after you return home. My recent trip to Paris was a little of both.

I was in Paris to visit my pearl supplier, but as so often happens, the trip became about much more than sourcing. Between conversations, beautiful pearls, art and the atmosphere of the city itself, I came home with plenty to think about and, of course, plenty of new ideas for jewellery.

It was also lovely to catch up with my pearl supplier in person. Sourcing is such an important part of what I do, and I really value the relationships I have built with the people behind the materials I work with.

Inspiration Beyond Jewellery

Jewellery design doesn’t always begin with a sketch. Sometimes it starts with a stone. Sometimes it starts with a shape that I’ve noticed somewhere. And sometimes it’s simply a feeling about a colour or a combination that I want to explore.

A Little More Paris

Paris is such an easy city to be inspired by.

Even between appointments, there is always something to notice, the architecture, the old shopfronts, the details on buildings, the colours, the gardens, the way different periods of design sit alongside one another.

It was also a lovely time to have my work featured by the National Association of Jewellers.

It’s always rather special to see your work recognised within the jewellery industry, particularly because so much of what goes into a piece happens quietly behind the scenes, from finding the right stone to developing a design and finally seeing it made.
